Dear friends,

Some moments in time lend themselves to the tiniest of astrological details, such as when the Moon aligns with Jupiter and evokes a beautiful sensation of expansion and exploration. This is not one of those times. This is a time when the planets speak loudly, virtually yelling at us to pay attention. And these are big messages, not the kind that last for only a few hours.

I may be particularly sensitive to these energies right now because they are all hitting my natal Mars in one way or another. This is the chart from yesterday morning when I awoke in a great deal of physical pain from energetic pressures.

If you have planets between 0º and 5º you may be feeling this too. Breathwork, calming music, gentle walks in nature - all can help us to rebalance our bodies’ energy systems.

Saturn and Neptune are in tight conjunction throughout the summer, in Aries which is the sign of wars and conflicts. Saturn tends to be more cautious, but sometimes when the brakes are held for too long a time the aggressive energy of Mars just wants to break out of the box. And then we have Neptune, creating confusion and perhaps delusion, spreading rumors that spread like wildfire at a time when global tensions are rapidly inflamed.

Amplifying these fiery tensions is the solar activation of Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune this week. Jupiter acts with great confidence, but Neptune creates a foggy mist that makes clarity difficult. As I write this the Iranians have just announced that they are closing the Strait of Hormuz, which is not a suggestion that they will be folding any time soon.

Astrologers knew going into 2025 that this would be a year of change. For my 2025 forecast I wrote: “it’s undeniable that governments across the globe are being reshuffled and the chessboard is being rearranged. The astrology never lies, but we often look through the lens of our own hopes.” On one side of the political aisle you have one hope - on the other side the hope is altogether different. And yet the astrology is the same, so I must remain neutral and receive the illumination that the planets offer without adding my own bias.

One thing I know to be true: The Universe is constantly striving for balance, and the Truth is not always your truth or mine.

Anyway! here are the major events you need to know about this week. For frequent musings and updates visit my Astro Notes and/or BlueSky.

Cancer New Moon June 25. The New Moon is always a time for a new beginning, and this New Moon is packed with planetary juice. Jupiter’s bounty is tightly tied into the New Moon, and so are Saturn and Neptune which means all of the influences described above are players in this lunation.

Hopes, dreams, feelings, doubts, love, family, regrets and healing are all tied into the dramatic energies of this New Moon. On a personal level this could be a beautiful time of heart-opening magic, reminding us that even in the midst of global chaos we can always find that heart center into which we can retreat and be recharged and renewed.

Mercury enters Leo June 26. Mercury leaving the sign of feelings (Cancer) for Leo will add a fiery element to the week’s astrological mix that may not be altogether welcome. The idea of caring for others, so prominent with the New Moon and Jupiter in the nurturing sign of Cancer, may take a back seat to our own personal experience and our own viewpoints will seem more important. Leo is a fixed sign and we can all be somewhat stubborn and fixed in our ideas when Mercury is in Leo. But on the plus side, this placement can help us to think more positively about the different ways in which we can feel happier, despite any current limitations.
