Planetary news this week: Energizing inspiration with earth 🌍 and fire🔥
Astrological update for the week of April 29-May 6, 2024
Thanks so much for following and subscribing, and especially to those who support my work to energize and inspire my writing. 💖
Here’s what you need to know this week:
Venus enters Taurus April 29. The shift from Venus in Aries into Venus in Taurus slides us into a realm that is more oriented towards stability and a sense of peace. Our relationships with others will become more calm, and it’s likely that global diplomatic partnerships will benefit as well. The financial markets may stabilize especially since there will only be one retrograde planet (see Pluto rx below). Venus in Taurus loves the comforts of earthly living, so plan some walks in the woods or other ways to commune with nature over the next few weeks.
Pluto turns retrograde May 2. Retrograde planets are closer to earth, and they tend to affect us more personally and because their motion is slower at those times their effect lasts longer. Until Mercury turned retrograde in April, there were no planets retrograde all year and time sped up a bit.
Outer planets are retrograde for half the year and Pluto is the first of the dominos to fall this week. While Pluto is retrograde it will clean up the last degree of Capricorn this fall. Political secrets may be revealed, a regenerative transformation of governments, schools and other institutions could occur. In our personal lives we may be forced to face some inconvenient truths that will later turn out to be a gift rather than a burden.
(Pluto will retrograde back into Capricorn on September 2nd and turn direct again on October 11th. It will leave Capricorn for good on November 19.)
Mars enters Aries April 30. Mars is often viewed as a malevolent force, symbolizing war, violence, and primal urges. It embodies our basic desires and the instinctual reactions that arise when those desires are thwarted, sometimes leading to aggression. However, this primal drive for self-preservation, akin to Freud's Id, is crucial for human survival, as Mars acts to protect the individual and fulfill desires
Mars is at its strongest in Aries, the sign of its most comfortable domicile. (Mars also rules Scorpio, which can get messy with difficult emotions and all of that intensity.) When Mars is in Aries (until June 9), we are all warriors. So many of my clients come to me not knowing what they should do. What they really should be asking is “What do I want in my life?” Mars in Aries can help us to answer those questions.
Next week: The New Moon in Taurus on May 7th. Despite Mars entering fiery Aries, Taurus season is in full force with all of its emphasis on comfort and a more intimate connection with the pleasures of earthly things. 🌳
