Planetary news this week: It's time to broaden our horizons π
Astrological update for the week of November 25-December 1, 2024
Thanks so much for following and subscribing, and especially to those who support my work to energize and inspire my writing. π
Dear friends,
We have come through the fire of passion under the sign of Scorpio, and now we emerge into the fire of hope in Sagittarius season. We learned as children reading βThe Little Engine that Couldβ that if you think you can do something or be something, you CAN do and be those things. These are Sagittarius lessons. Sagittarius tends to bring out the social aspects of the most reclusive of us, and thatβs why itβs the perfect sign for these times. It instills in us a sunny optimism and a belief that all things are possible.
Still, every aspect of astrology has a light side and a dark side, even Sagittarius. Under the influence of Sagittarius, whether in the natal chart or under a Sagittarius planetary cycle, we can be blind to anything which restricts our freedom to explore and pursue our overoptimistic agendas, and this can sometimes result in negative consequences so moderation is a good quality to keep at hand under these strong Sagittarius influences.
This week, and well into December, there is a tension (Jupiter/Mercury opposition) between the Jupiterian tendency to think big and the struggle to fit the big picture into small Mercury boxes. By all means expand your viewpoint; under this influence even the most negative among us will be able to see the world through a more positive lens and this aspect is positive for anyone in the communications industry, writers, or anyone who deals in any kind of information sharing. But there will likely to be a sense that things feel rather unfocused and difficult to pin down into to a solid plan and this sense will become stronger later in December when Saturn comes into the picture and demands some accountability.
Here are the major events you need to know about this week. For frequent musings and updates visit my Astro Notes.
Mercury turns retrograde November 25. Iβm pretty sure everyone knows about Mercury retrograde now! Mercury is in mutable Sagittarius where it is more adaptable making the retrograde phase easier than when Mercury is in signs which are more fixed in nature. Just take care when planning a trip or signing a contract, but donβt put your life on hold. And regarding the shadow period, revisit this article before you panic. π€©
Sagittarius New Moon December 1. Sundayβs New Moon is truly a bounty of good vibes as the Jupiter-ruled Moon urges us to find a new adventure and the broader perspective which we so badly need these days. A happy trine from the New Moon to Mars in joyful Leo and to the Aries North Node, creates a circle of fire to energize all of this positivity. Hope and optimism prevails under this influence, making it easier to release patterns of negativity and doubt. A strong square from Saturn demands that we find a way to focus this power into a form that will provide a strong support.
Like all New Moons, this is a time of new beginnings. We have completed the Scorpionic cycle of rebirth and emergence from the force of emotional power into the light of intention and adventure.
We do have Mercury retrograde in a tense opposition to Jupiter, the ruler of this New Moon, which can cause us to doubt the veracity of all of these wildly optimistic viewpoints. This is the perfect time to let the positive vibes carry you into uncharted territories, and then plan strategies for success that depend on more than hope and optimism.
Mars stationary (retrograde December 6). Mars is stationary as it prepares to turn retrograde next week, and you can read all about that here. In the midst of all this fire energy and its accompanying enthusiasm and excitement, fire planet Mars is the fire planet is not very happy or comfortable when retrograde.Β We are more likely to feel frustrated and angry if things donβt go our way, and less able to put our plans into motion.
The stationary phase before Mars actually turns retrograde is a time for asking some important questions: important questions.Β Where are we trying to make something happen but the doors keep closing around us?Β Where are we feeling weak and unable to assert ourselves?Β Do we have a plan to maintain our physical energy during the retrograde period?
Fortunately Mars in Leo has plenty of potency to carry us through without too many problems. But if ever there was a time to speak up and not let resentments linger, this will be it. π
