Planetary news this week: The euphoria of shattered paradigms 🤯
Astrological update for the week of April 8-15, 2024
Thanks so much for following and subscribing, and especially to those who support my work to energize and inspire my writing. 💖
As I wrote in the monthly forecast, April is full of astrological punch and the next few weeks provide the climax of intensity. This could feel like a burst of anxious energy where we can’t sit still. It could feel like a burst of excitement and optimism about the future. It could feel like a fearful imagining of the worst as the past falls away and the days to come appear uncertain.
Each of us is wired very differently regarding change and excitement - some of us love roller coasters, and some are terrified. This week and the next are a bit of a roller coaster, but if we can figure out how to hold on and let go at the same time we will be doing just fine. 😃
The effects of the eclipse will linger. An Aries New Moon, ruled by Mars, is often accompanied by an adrenaline rush which may be exacerbated by the upcoming alignment of Jupiter (expansive) and Uranus (electricity). The inclusion of Chiron into the eclipse energies suggests a release of old patterns which bind us.
Let’s remember that the eclipse ruler Mars, normally courageous and assertive, is in the watery sign of Pisces where our intentions can be washed away in a sea of indecision, and with Saturn in the midst we may feel blocked or a sense of futility. There is a sense here of feeling pressure to take action combined with confusion over how to proceed.
The eclipse occurs on 2:18 pm EDT on Monday April 8th, and when the Moon moves into Taurus on Tuesday morning the eclipse energies will begin to settle down. (Some astrologers say that the effects of an eclipse can last until the next series, but I have not seen this to be true in real life.)
The conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus will continue to tighten. These two freedom and liberation planets are tightly wound into the fabric of the eclipse, radiating a laser beam to stimulate and accelerate personal growth and evolution. An increase in extremist behavior is likely, both in yourself and in others. (I myself am very excitable now as this conjunction hits many of my own planets.)
If there is an area of your life where you are feeling restricted and oppressed, you will feel it even more over the next few weeks under this alignment. Jupiter urges us to dream big and face the world with optimistic wonder; Uranus demands authenticity and inspires change where we are holding ourselves back. That doesn’t mean that we should impulsively take actions that could later prove to be unwise, but any feelings of being repressed and closed-in are clues to what needs to be changed.
Mars will conjoin Saturn in Pisces. Mars transits last only for a few days unlike the Jupiter/Uranus combo which will last for a good four weeks, so this isn’t anything to be super worried about. It is, however, embedded in the eclipse energies which increases its significance especially since Mars rules the eclipse and is therefore a stronger influence.
It might be smart to avoid any kind of big decision this week if it can be avoided. Pisces is mystical and creative, but not very practical and our ideas and plans will not be well thought out at this time (especially with Mercury retrograde). Obviously life doesn’t always fit into our astrological strategies so you may be required to make hard decisions this week, but at least you’ll be ready to put on your practical hat when doing so.
